What pkmntools.com is and who is behind it

Last updated:

A fan project, made by a collector for collectors. Here I explain why it exists, how I build it and where the data comes from.

What it is

pkmntools.com started in 2026 as a placeholder generator: printable cards to mark the cards you are missing in your binder. Then came the checklists, a page for each set with live prices, the Collection Tracker to manage your collection online, and the blog, where I write about the market and the history of the card game.

Everything is free. The costs are covered by donations on Ko-fi, the occasional affiliate link and, in the future, discreet ads. I never sell your data.

I am an e-commerce solutions architect and I have been collecting Pokémon TCG since the Wizards era. I am not a professional developer: I build this site together with AI agents, reviewing every decision, and I say so openly because I would rather you know how the things you use are made.

I sign the blog articles myself. I collect and verify the price data with my own tools, and when I make a mistake I fix it and note it.

Where the data comes from

  • Cards, sets and images: TCGdex, with my own copy of the images so as not to overload their service.
  • Pokédex and sprites: PokéAPI.
  • Prices: TCGPlayer (market price of the ungraded card) through PokéTrace; when TCGPlayer has no price, real eBay sales. They are updated every week and the date is shown next to the price.
  • Price history: weekly snapshots stored in my own database since 2026.

The prices I publish in an article are not changed afterwards: they are the evidence of what the card was worth that day.
